Communication & Navigation Radios #

  1. Com 1 / 2 active and standby frequencies. Tap the active frequency to swap, tap the standby frequency to set using the number pad.
  2. Nav 1 / 2 active and standby frequencies. Same operation as Com’s.
  3. Radio transmitting select (listen to one or both channels).
  4. Active radio select (swap between Radio 1 / 2)
  5. Navigation Source select (for NAV mode, ILS, etc)
  6. Distance Measuring Equiptment (DME – distance to next GPS waypoint or VOR when tuned NAV 1/2)
  7. ADF active and standby frequencies. Same operation as Com’s.
  8. Transponder select. Tap the number to enter a new transponder code. Select the state (Off / On / Standby / Alt) with the button row. IDENT currently INOP.

GPS Controls (G1000, GNS 530 / 430) #

The GPS controls bring a new dimension to the echo. Pressing Right-Alt-R and then clicking on a G1000 or GPS window will pop that window out, and you can also operate them right from the cockpit view. The knob circles highlight ‘blue’ when a knob is selected, and then you can use the encoder to

  1. COM knob and switch (Encoder not pressed is the Kilohertz , Encoder pressed is the Megahertz).
  2. NAV knob and switch. (Encoder not pressed is the Kilohertz , Encoder pressed is the Megahertz).
  3. Switch between controlling the PFD and MFD.
  4. Bottom row soft-keys.
  5. Flight Planning Commands (Direct-To, Menu, Flight Plan, Procedures, Clear, Enter).
  6. FMS knob (Encoder not pressed is the inner knob, Encoder pressed is the outer knob).
  7. Cursor Select Button (emulates FMS push Button).
  8. Map Range.
  9. The GNS 530 and 430 operate in a similar fasion to the G1000.

Aircraft Systems #

  1. Fuel quantity indicators for left and right main and auxiliary tanks. The gauges show a cumulative quantities for the tanks on each side.
  2. Fuel tank selectors (Left, Right, Both).
  3. Fuel pump selectors for engine 1 and 2.
  4. Ignition switch and starter motor switch for engine 1 and 2.
  5. System voltage and amperage (Amperage is currently INOP).
  6. Stats for engine 1 and 2. For piston engines: RPM, manifold pressure. For turbo props: Torque and N1. For jets: N1 and N2. All configurations show oil pressure and temperature.
  7. Throttle lever position information.

Settings #

  1. Device brightness slider.
  2. Simulator frame rate.
  3. Elapsed flight time in the simulator
  4. Setting to automatically add the number ‘1’ to the start of all of your COM or NAV frequencies upon entry. This emulates some real-world touchscreen units.
  5. Reverse the logic on the AutoPilot altitude select field. Typically, you can select by 100’s normally, and by 1000’s when pressing the encoder button. This logic switch reverses those (Good for IFR pilots who typically fly in 1000 foot intervals).
  6. Firmware Update button for initiating display updates.
