IMPORTANT NOTICES FOR PROPER SETUP

MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIM JOYSTICKS BUG – If you plug in your echo and notice that the altitudes are moving erratically, or the headings are moving by 10s, you are experiencing a bug in MSFS2020.

UPDATE (FEBRUARY 22nd 2021) – ASOBO has now indicated this bug will be fixed in the SIM UPDATE #3 coming at the end of the month.



The Problem: In MSFS there is an internal timer that is supposed to help with acceleration of things like knobs. Instead, if you have any joystick device connected with an “Always On” Switch (not momentary) bound to the sim, it sets this timer off and messes up SimConnect commands. This is because the joystick sends hundreds of the same switch command a second.

The Solution: Unbind any ‘always on’ switches from MSFS2020, and route them through SPAD neXt – SPAD is programmed to only send one command to the sim when a switch is flicked, so it doesn’t overload the timer.

DEVICE SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS: For devices not listed or if in doubt – Go to your windows and search for “Set up USB game controllers”. View the properties of your game controller. Any “Bright” red circles or buttons are always on switches. You can try flicking switches on your device to see what is persistently on.

HONEYCOMB BRAVO THROTTLES: All switches, gear handle, and the AP mode selector switch need to be debound.

HONEYCOMB ALPHA YOKE: All Panel switches only need to be debound:

– Master (Alt / Bat).
– Avionics (Bus1 / Bus2).
– BCN / LAND / TAXI / NAV / STROBE.
– OFF / R / L / BOTH / START Magneto selections.

NOTE: You can just stop here if you want, if you can live without your panel switches until ASOBO fixes the issue (which many, many have reported at this point).

SPAD WORKAROUND PROFILE:

2) Click on the “Controls” panel of SPAD neXt (picture of yoke and pedals, third or fourth icon down)
3) Select “Alpha Flight Controls”.
4) Click on one of button graphics to select a button.
5) Select “Online Snippets” at the bottom right.
6) Click “Show All Devices”.
7) Search for and select “MSFS2020 HoneyComb Alpha Switch Panel Fix” and press ok.
8) Select “Yes” to “replace all events defined for this device?”.
9) On the upper right, click “Device Settings” – “CONFIGURE_PANEL_GLOBALSETTINGS”. Ensure that Buttons 13-35 are set to “simple pushbutton”.
10) On the lower left hand side of the window, select the “disk” icon (should be small and red) to save settings.
11) You’re done! Assign the non-panel yoke switches and buttons with MSFS2020, but leave the panel ones unassigned as they have been configured using SPAD neXt to control their proper functions in the sim.

START UP SEQUENCE FOR THE CLASS ECHO FOR USE WITH THE SIMULATOR:
To ensure a proper connection with the simulator, please follow the steps below:

1) Plug the Arduino into your computer (will power up the Class Echo). Leave at least 10 seconds between plugging in and opening SPAD neXt.
2) Open Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
3) When you get to the main menu, you may start up SPAD neXt at any point after that.
4) The “Class Echo” splash screen will appear and bounce to “Flight Info” during and after sync.

TO RECONNECT CLASS ECHO WITH SIMULATOR RUNNING:
If for any reason you have to re-connect and sync the Class Echo with the already running simulator, please:

1) Close SPAD neXt.
2) Unplug the Class Echo, plug it back in. Wait at 10 seconds.
3) Open up SPAD neXt.
4) The “Class Echo” splash screen will appear and bounce to “Flight Info” during and after sync.
