Initial Build #
Begin by downloading the Shakeprint Knob firmware on the downloads page:
– KNOB (STOCK ENCODER SINGLE AXIS) (For the included Encoder)
– XLoader
Upload the firmware to the Arduino using these instructions: Step 1 – Arduino Flashing. Select the “Uno” under “device” in XLoader instead of “Mega”.
Assembling the Class Echo Mobile is pretty straightforward:
- Plug the five included wires into the pins on the included encoder. Keep note of the pin name that you have assigned each wire color. The pins are labeled on the encoder circuit board.
- If possible, it is recommended to put a bead of hot glue on the joint between the pins and the plastic bottom of the connectors. This will ensure that the pins do not slip out.
Plug the pins into your Arduino Uno (purchased separately). Use the following wiring scheme:
ENCODER 5V — ARDUINO 5V
ENCODER S1 — ARDUINO PIN D8
ENCODER S2 — ARDUINO PIN D9
ENCODER KEY — ARDUINO PIN D10
ENCODER GND — ARDUINO GND
If you are using a Dual Encoder from Leo Bodnar (not included), please use the following wiring scheme:
ENCODER A1 — ARDUINO PIN D8
ENCODER A2 — ARDUINO PIN D9
ENCODER B1 — ARDUINO PIN D10
ENCODER B2 — ARDUINO PIN D11
ENCODER BUTTON – ARDUINO PIN D12
ENCODER GND — ARDUINO GND
To finish assembly, Line the Arduino up with the side of the casing area. The USB plug should be near the top edge of the case. You will be able to use the included Allan key to screw the Arduino in by the three screw points available. The case cover then screws on with the remaining four screws.
